Call for papersLinguistic Evidence 2022 is the eleventh in this series, which has run since 2004, so far organized by the University of Tübingen. Linguistic Evidence 2022 will be organized by the Laboratoire de Linguistique Formelle (Université de Paris – CNRS) and the Laboratoire d’Excellence « Empirical Foundations of Linguistics ». The aim of the event is to provide an academic context in which researchers with an interest in empirically adequate linguistic theory can meet like-minded colleagues and discuss their work. The unique feature of this conference is its focus on developing linguistic theory by means of improvements in the data basis. In particular, the focus is on the added value for syntactic and semantic theory building of the collection of elicited data. Many studies report experimental results, but other elicited data types, such as field work and questionnaires, are equally welcome. For this reason papers at Linguistic Evidence will usually have both an empirical and a theoretical component. Linguistic theory has made remarkable progress in providing accounts of the sometimes puzzling phenomena of human language. In particular the insight that the most explanatory approach can be rather more abstract than a superficial analysis might suggest has proved itself in many cases. Sometimes these higher-level generalizations are not immediately apparent but are revealed only in more detailed data. The motivation for the Linguistic Evidence conference series is to pursue this empirically adequate but theoretically informed approach. Papers which draw from multiple fields or in which theoretical and/or experimental linguists work together with colleagues in adjacent fields are very welcome, as is work which addresses the practical issues around the collection and processing of elicited data. At each Linguistic Evidence conference a special session is offered. The title of the special session at Linguistic Evidence 2022 is: “Elicited evidence and non-local dependencies”. Work related to this topic is thus particularly welcome. We invite contributions, which employ empirical methods in the collection of experimental, crosslinguistic data to elucidate crucial aspects of non-local dependencies. We invite abstracts for 30+10 minute talks and also for poster presentations. Unless you specify otherwise in your abstract, we shall consider all submissions first as talks and then as posters. We will not normally accept more than two abstracts per person, and of these only one may be single-authored. Abstracts should be no more than 3 pages long (without pagination!) including data, graphics and references. They should have a 2.5 cm margin on all sides, line spacing of 13 pt, and should be written in 12 point Times New Roman font and preferably sent in as a .pdf. You will also have to add an abstract up to 100 words. Reviews will be blind, please leave space for names and affiliations in the pdf file. We will publish Online Proceedings. Every talk and poster presentation will be considered for publication within this volume. Submissions can be uploaded from April 1st 2022 (check our website for upcoming details) Deadline for Submissions: May 31st 2022
